Make optimal plan for the procurement of land

Land procurement refers to the process by which the private land is acquired for the purpose of industrialization or expansion of infrastructural amenities by providing compensation to the landowners. Procurement of land for different projects should proceed with minimal socio-economic and environmental impact on the local communities. Environmental impacts of land acquisition need to be considered before altering the existing land-use or landcover. Following are some of the things that need to be considered before the acquisition of land:

  • If the land is acquired for agricultural purpose, the fertility of the land throughout the past needs to be analyzed
  • Historical land-cover type of the proposed area also needs to be recognized, to avoid construction on the natural flow routes.

Direct computation of these environmental impacts is difficult, because of the involvement of a complex set of land-atmosphere interactions that are difficult to be monitored. Agrohydrological variables are parameters that vary with land-atmosphere interactions yet will retain the memory of the anomalies happened in past. Agrohydrological parameters due to its inherent memory can hence be used in modeling land-atmospheric interactions. Satyukt analytics Pvt an expert in microwave remote sensing is capable of addressing the issue from its roots by modeling land-atmospheric interactions with the help of agro-hydrologic parameters and machine learning.

Satyukt has developed a web-based interactive map, VATI (Visualize Access Tools Insight) in an attempt to make hydrological data easily accessible and understandable to researchers and the public. VATI helps in Visualizing, accessing and analyzing satellite estimated agro-hydrological variables in near real-time at customizable spatial, temporal and spectral resolutions with the aid of a user-friendly web interface which can be accessed globally. VATI enables access to historical data since 1975 using which

  • Landuse landcover mapping of the proposed land can be carried out to analyze the change in land-use over the years.
  • Fertility of the land over past years can be analyzed and appropriate agricultural methods can be adapted.

Monitoring environmental impacts may help decision-makers and stakeholders to take appropriate steps or formulate policies to eradicate or reduce the impacts of proposed activities on the quality of land and the ecosystem.
